WELCOME
We welcome back to BCA, David & Joanne Piper along with their sons Daniel, Luke and Matthew. David will take over the reins of the Parish of Emerald/Blackwater from Daniel & Jenni Avenell. The Pipers served with BCA previously in Lightning Ridge from 2013–2019. They will commence service sometime in the new year.
David & Zoe Browne, together with their children Micah and Jude, will commence serving in the coastal city of Gladstone on the southern Great Barrier Reef early next year. The Brownes will both work as priests at Gladstone Anglican.
After completing his theological studies with financial assistance from BCA, Malachi Walker will commence as a BCA-supported Minister in Training at Geraldton Cathedral, WA in 2025. Malachi originally trained as a nurse but has been undertaking a Master of Divinity at Trinity Theological College in Perth.
FAREWELL
Ruth & Lee Walton leave the BCA family after Ruth served for four years as the Anglican Dean at Nungalinya College. Ruth was instrumental in establishing the College’s new chaplaincy program. They await where God will call them next.
Kylie, Matt & Ava Garrett have moved back to Port Macquarie NSW to meet growing family needs. Kylie served with SU Australia (NT) as their Field Development Manager for the past two years.
Daniel & Jenni Avenell have served in the Parish of Emerald/Blackwater for the past year where Daniel served as an intentional locum. Daniel’s work plus that of Jen Hercott before him, has set the groundwork for the Piper family to build on in 2025 and beyond.
VALE
Rowena Dunk (nee McLachlan) 2024 worked with BCA in Ceduna as a pharmacist in 1965 before returning to Sydney to marry. She was known as a lady devoted to pharmacy, family and God. Rowena leaves behind husband of 58 years Jim and children Iain and Roslyn.
The Reverend Peter Harradence (22 January 1935 – 27 July 2024) served with BCA in Exmouth from (1981–1982) and Kununurra (1982–1986). Upon departing Melbourne for North West Australia he had some mixed feeling about leaving family and friends behind but said “I look forward to the challenge of a new and different ministry, praying that the Lord may teach me and supply me with the gifts and graces required.” Peter leaves behind nieces and nephews of Brian, Jarna, Cheryl, Jennifer & Susanne, and great nieces Cassie & Sammi.
