Going Underground for Jesus

Greg Harris – National Director

Coober Pedy is a place that is dear to the hearts of many of you, and we want to thank you for praying over the last six years for God to provide Field Staff for this mining town.

The congregation at Catacombe church during the Woods commissioing serviceGod answered our prayers, and that of Catacomb Church parishioners, with Dave & Margie Wood settling in Coober Pedy in April.

We have committed to supporting Dave & Margie both prayerfully and financially for the next four years as they reach out into the community. To do this we need your help, so have launched our mid-year appeal.

Can you prayerfully consider helping us reach our target of $300,000 so we can support Dave & Margie for the next four years as they go underground for Jesus?

BCA has a proud history of service in Coober Pedy. It all began in 1946 when our Flying Medical Service began flights into Coober Pedy from Ceduna. A hospital was opened in 1965, staffed and equipped by BCA. From 1970 to 2018 there was not a year without a full-time minister in Coober Pedy, with 10 Field Staff couples and families serving there. While we are grateful to all the
locums who filled in over the past six years, Dave & Margie’s arrival is real cause for celebration.

It is my prayer that Dave & Margie’s ministry will bear much fruit as they reach out into the community. Could you also pray with me that they will be a blessing not only to the townsfolk but the long-term parishioners of the Catacomb Church?

Opportunities abound in Coober Pedy now that Dave & Margie are on the ground. Recently named as one of Australia’s top 10 towns by travel website Wotif, Coober Pedy boasts unique experiences for tourists. The Catacomb Church is one of the most popular sites and can boast up to 70 visitors a day. This provides a great opportunity to share the Good News with Australian and international tourists.

Thank you once again for your continued prayers and support. May God bless you in your own ministry for Him.
