BCA 4 Kids: Going to church on Holidays

Rachel Dirks – BCA 4 Kids Coordinator

Have you ever gone to church when you are on holidays? It is a great thing to do, and with many of our Field Staff Locations across Australia in holiday zones, it’s a great chance to encourage them when you are touring the country.

Here are a few reasons why I think it’s great to visit churches on holiday:

1. It keeps you in your regular HABITS. If you are used to going to church every week, why stop when you’re on holidays? It’s great to keep a part of the weekly routine going even when you’re away.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23–25 NIV

2. Meeting with God’s people. It’s great to meet people who love Jesus wherever you go. Getting to know some new friends and celebrating how God makes us FAMILY even though we have never met before can be really fun.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10 NIV

3. Meeting new people and trying new things can help us to GROW as we challenge ourselves to follow Jesus. Some people love trying new things, and for some of us we can find change a little overwhelming at times. As we press into Jesus and trust him to help us, we get a chance to stretch our faith a little and grow through the process.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:15–16 NIV

Turning up for each other is one of the best things we can do as a family of believers. Let us know if you have a chance to visit one of our Field Staff locations, we would love to hear from you.
