Greg Harris - National Director
After twenty years serving with BCA, today I’m sad to announce that we bid farewell to the Watson family this month.
Jim, Natalie, and at the time baby Jesse, joined BCA in 2004 when they moved from Sydney to Kununurra to serve as Co-Workers to support church regrowth and reach out to the community with the Gospel. They left Sydney without having paid employment in the area, but it wasn’t long before they found work, but also became involved in Indigenous Ministry.
“It was hard not to minister to the other half of town,” said Jim in 2012. “We were really drawn to Indigenous people by God.”
Jim mentored young Indigenous men through his role at TAFE, and Jim & Natalie ran an Indigenous Bible study in their home.
During their 13 years in Kununurra, Jim & Natalie also added Matthew, Luke & Isabel to their family. They moved to serve in Darwin in 2018, where Jim worked at Nungalinya College and Northern Territory Christian Schools.
While BCA supported Jim in his work for most of their years with us, in 2023 we commenced supporting Natalie in her role as Women’s Pastoral Ministry Worker for the Diocese of the Northern Territory. In this part-time role she helped lead a Bible study for women in prison, pastorally supported women, and facilitated support for victims of domestic violence.
Natalie concludes her role in mid-March to be available for changing family needs. “We are sad to be finishing as BCA Field Staff but are looking forward to being able to visit extended family in New South Wales more frequently,” she said. “We cherish BCA supporters and will continue involvement in this way ourselves.”
Please join me in wishing the Watson family God’s blessings as they depart as BCA Field Staff but continue serving Him in their daily lives.
