Revd James and Mrs Skye Coats

Revd James and Mrs Skye Coats

Having finished their time at Turvey Park and Tarcutta, the Coats family have moved from Wagga to Holbrook. James has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of the parish of Holbrook in the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn. He takes two weekly services at Holbrook, a monthly service at nearby Woomargama, and fortnightly services at the hospital and nursing home. Skye is teaching Scripture in the local school. James and Skye hope to make connections with young families in town while continuing to serve and empower parishioners, many of whom have lived in the area for most of their lives.

Holbrook

Holbrook is a town of about 1400 people located on the Hume Highway roughly half-way between Sydney and Melbourne.  It is primarily a service centre for the surrounding region and visiting highway traffic.  It is the centre of a diverse rural economy, and the Holbrook district has some of the best grazing land in NSW.  Holbrook is the last town between Sydney and Melbourne to be bypassed, with the bypass scheduled to open in 2013.  The degree to which local business will be impacted is uncertain.  Known both locally and nationally as ‘the Submarine Town’, Holbrook is home to the decommissioned Australian submarine HMAS Otway.

St Paul's Holbrook has Sunday and Wednesday services at 9:30am.
