Field Staff - Coober Pedy

BCA is currently seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and gospel‐focussed Anglican minister to encourage and build up the congregations in the South Australian mining town Coober Pedy.

Coober Pedy is a busy mining hub right in the centre of South Australia with a population of about 3000 people. It is known for its opal mining but can now also boast of nearby copper, iron ore, gold and coal mines with explorations continuing for others. This means the community in Coober Pedy is constantly growing. Local services include a school, hospital, medical centres, direct flights to Adelaide, a golf course, art galleries and an open air outback cinema!

A minimum commitment of two years is required. This ministry is unique with a well‐established congregation and opportunities for ministry to the many visiting tourists. The Rectory provides cool underground accommodation with four bedrooms, a guest room and good TV reception. A full stipend will be received, along with access to other ministry benefits offered by the Society.

A locum will be at Coober Pedy until a permanent appointment can be made.

Field Staff - Paraburdoo/Tom Price

BCA is currently seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and gospel‐focussed Anglican minister to encourage and build up the congregations in the West Australian mining towns of Paraburdoo and Tom Price.

Paraburdoo and Tom Price are nestled in the beautiful Hamersley Ranges, 80km apart from each other. These areas are rich in iron ore. As a result both towns are built around mining. In Paraburdoo, every resident is connected with the mine in one way or another and whilst its church is small, they are confident it will grow. Tom Price is a larger and older town and has other industries. It is the gateway to the Karijini National Park. The church at Tom Price has about 30 adults and a similar number of children. This stunning system of gorges attracts a continuous flow of tourists throughout the winter season. The Shire is currently redeveloping the town centre at Tom Price and has plans to redevelop Paraburdoo town centre as well. Both towns are young and multicultural, giving an energetic feel to the area.

With time split between them there is a lot of travel involved. Each church has a Sunday Service and Sunday school, Bible study and other support activities that are part of living in community.
